Often we are asked about ways to decrease stress and increase focus, self-awareness and confidence. As former practicing attorneys, dealing with stress, anxiety and challenges with focus and clarity used to be our daily experience.

Now we have a secret tool, which, if used daily, produces incredible results.

This powerful tool is…

…meditation.

Having been meditating for the last 5 years we can swear by its effects not only on the emotional state but also on the overall sense of well-being, the ability to focus, decisiveness, clarity and confidence.

Meditation? But who has the time?! I am a busy lawyer and I’ve got way too much to do!

In the legal profession, what is often rewarded the most are achievements, accomplishments and getting stuff done. So why would you choose to meditate, which just looks like sitting around and not getting anything done? Well, that’s actually the idea. Just as your body needs rest and sleep to recover, your mind needs time to disconnect and get refreshed.

Meditation brings an amazing sense of inner peace and calmness. It helps to slow down the mind chatter and allows you to see and think more clearly.

At this point, hundreds (if not thousands) of studies have been done that demonstrate the power of meditation. The legal profession, which traditionally tends to lag behind when it comes to innovation, has been catching up to it as well. One of our favorite examples is University of Miami Law School’s Mindfulness in Law Program, which teaches mindfulness techniques, such as meditation, to law students and practicing attorneys.

I would try to meditate but I don’t know how.

Many people get turned off of meditation because it seems too difficult to learn.

A great way to get started is to follow along with a program such as the Chopra Center’s 21-day Mediation Experience. These are free online recordings of meditation led by Deepak Chopra and Oprah.

And there is one happening right now! For more information and to join the Meditation Experience go to https://chopracentermeditation.com.

Still doubt this will be a worthwhile experience? Try one and see for yourself!

To your incredible success,
Yuliya
