Developed by an award-winning company, the Women Rainmakers Program is specifically designed to equip female law firm partners at Am Law 100 and Am Law 200 firms with concrete strategies, perspectives, tools, and skills as well as the accountability they need to become effective business developers and leaders to continuously and successfully advance their legal careers.

Now more than ever, law firm leaders understand that the key to sustainable growth depends not only on the quality of their lawyers’ legal talent, but also on their lawyers’ abilities to lead and generate business. And while lawyers are trained to excel at lawyering, many typically receive no formal training (in law school or private practice) to succeed in leadership or business development. The issue is even more apparent for women lawyers who face their own additional challenges.

In 2007, an ABA study identified that new female partners reported “obstacles to business development because they lack training, mentoring, and business development resources.”  Ten years later, during the 2017 Summit of the ABA Presidential Initiative on Achieving Long-Term Careers for Women in Law, launched by the ABA’s Past President Hillarie Bass, one of the key solutions to retaining women lawyers identified by the participants was the need for women lawyers to “be given early and consistent business development training and coaching.”  The Women Rainmakers program does just that!

TESTIMONIALS

“I’m receiving tremendous value, and have gained a ton of focus and clarity around my business development goals, prospective clients I want to target, how to approach them, what to say and what to do with them to cultivate relationships that turn into business. I’m thrilled to be part of this wonderful program!”

“Marla and Yuliya delivered a well-thought-out program that was both inspiring and practical filled with tips and strategies that our women lawyers can implement immediately. Because they are lawyers themselves, Marla’s and Yuliya’s examples and case studies were relevant and on-point, reflecting the realities of the daily pressures women lawyers face and they offer real answers and solutions. We received overwhelmingly positive feedback about the program from our attorneys who felt energized, uplifted and motivated to implement new strategies to take greater ownership of their success.”

“One of the biggest take-aways for me was learning to manage my team of associates more effectively and run my projects more strategically rather than just be ‘putting out fires.’ After just a few months, things are moving extremely well. The team is working ‘like a well-oiled machine.’ My associates are busy full time and are doing great. I am very happy. I feel that I became very effective in managing people and my projects. This allowed me to focus more on business development and I am excited to have three more large client projects in the pipeline.”

“The program was a total game changer. I learned a ton about many different ways to build key relationships, not just locally but also nationally, to sharpen my focus with regard to identifying potential key relationships, and how to harvest these relationships without compromising my character or really deviating at all from who I am. I have since brought in 15 new matters.”
